IN THE PRESS

- Catavino is a Portugal-based company which appealed to us. We booked a two week tour of Portugal through them. They were uniformaly great - from planning the trip, accommodating our many changes, supervising our tour and even making changes for us while we were in Portugal. I could not have been more pleased with them and recommend them highly!read moreread less
Richard Porter10/19/2018Yesterday we had the chance to visit a few places in the Douro with Catavino. We had the chance to meet one very young producer (Oscar Quevedo: thanks!) who did a complete tour through one of his vineyards and educated us on the different types of grapes the Douro has to offer and how the wine in this winery is made. The highlight was a great food experience in the winery while staring at the amazing Douro landscape, while sipping whites, red and port wine from the same house. Thanks!!read moreread less
Flavio Bastos Amiel6/19/2018My husband and I recently returned from a 10 day glimpse of Portugal. We stayed in some great hotels strategically located in the cities of Lisbon, Coimbra and Porto with side trips to neighboring areas. Our drivers Rui and Diogo were extremely knowledgeable about the locales and their food recommendations were spot on. We also enjoyed getting to know our tour guides: Mika (Sintra), Leanore (Lisbon), Claudia (Porto) and Sandra (Duoro Valley). We would like to thank Catavino Tours for arranging this trip and making our adventure effortless! We look forward to returning to Portugal in the near future and will certainly be booking with your company!read moreread lessSusan James4/17/2022 - I will start by saying that I cried when I had to leave Portugal and come back to the real world of our home in the USA. Every single tour guide and driver was fantastic, knowledgeable and a real pleasure to deal with. And every single hotel and restaurant was top-notch.I highly recommend Catavino Tours, their attention to detail and their attentiveness made our vacation the BEST vacation ever. They made our first time in Portugal easy.OH! And the Trip Plans APP with the details of our itinerary is a great added feature as well. The APP made it easy to keep track of what was next.read moreread lessSoni Kennedy6/29/2022Catavino is Ryan Opaz. But Ryan Opaz is not all of Catavino. There is a team behind the scenes. He is a Renaissance man with a great knowledge of food, wine and culture. We enjoyed three days with Ryan as he guided us through the Douro Valley and the ancient town of Porto. Although Ryan has a huge database of facts in his brain, he is also a treasure house of stories. You will discover the “real” Douro and Porto, not the tourist version. Ryan is always greeted like an old friend everywhere you go because he has a vast network of relationships. You will not get a stock tour: you will get an experience tailored to your interests and tastes. Ryan will take you to places you cannot enter as a tourist on your own. The guides in the Quintas and Port Houses learn from Ryan, not the other way around. American? Yes. Portuguese? Yes. Ryan lives in both cultures but is completely a “native” son of Portugal. Recommended for the wine enthusiast and professional, and for small groups. You must get to know Catavino.read moreread less
