As a local, exploring my own city - Porto - through the eyes and tastes of others is always a challenging experience, and I had a great experience with Catavino - learning a lot of hidden facts and stories about our portuguese daily pleasures (tea, coffee, beer, wine...). 3 pleasant hours that pass without noticing, ending at the beautiful Wine Shop - The Lab, where Ryan, the owner, welcomes you with a smile and an assumed love for Portugal. Catavino was excellent to work with. They helped us plan exactly the trip we wanted. We visited Porto and Lisbon, including a stop in Coimbra on the drive from Porto to Lisbon. Each tour and each guide and driver were perfect. The guides and drivers all spoke English well. They were charming, informative and each had a sense of humor. Using the services of Catavino made our trip to Portugal much more meaningful, informative and fun.

My wife and I did a full day, private Douro Valley wine tour with Ryan and it was fantastic! I recommend using Ryan's company to anyone. Ryan picked us up at our AirBnB and drove us to the Douro Valley. We learned a ton of Douro Valley and Portuguese history, which was exactly what we wanted. He was personable and we were completely comfortable in his company the whole time. We went to two amazing vineyards and had a blast seeing how the wines were made, meeting the owners (who are so very nice!), and tasting some excellent wine. We had a lovely lunch in between both vineyards at a small, yet excellent, restaurant. Honestly, this was absolutely worth the money and I'd do it again in a second.In addition to our Douro Valley wine tour, we did a half-day food and culture tour in Porto with Jose Silva - all organized by Ryan's company. That was a great experience as well - again, I highly recommend. I'd never done an organized tour like this even though I have travelled extensively and lived in Europe for almost 15 years. We have another 1/2 day food and culture tour in Lisbon and we're really looking forward to it.If you want an extremely high quality, relaxed, personable, attentive tour given by locals, you should absolutely check out Catavino Tours. My wife and I had a first rate experience touring the wine country in Portugal. Catavino Tours organized the trip for us and friends. The tour was organized down to the most specific details permitting us an experience unencumbered with worry or stress.
