Their level of knowledge is incredible, and we had access to wine tasting, grape stomping and meet the faces behind the wine industry. I can't even begin to describe the amazing lunch at the farm, overlooking the most spectacular views that only the Douro provides - breath taking!! My wife and I did a full day, private Douro Valley wine tour with Ryan and it was fantastic! I recommend using Ryan's company to anyone. Ryan picked us up at our AirBnB and drove us to the Douro Valley. We learned a ton of Douro Valley and Portuguese history, which was exactly what we wanted. He was personable and we were completely comfortable in his company the whole time. We went to two amazing vineyards and had a blast seeing how the wines were made, meeting the owners (who are so very nice!), and tasting some excellent wine. We had a lovely lunch in between both vineyards at a small, yet excellent, restaurant. Honestly, this was absolutely worth the money and I'd do it again in a second.In addition to our Douro Valley wine tour, we did a half-day food and culture tour in Porto with Jose Silva - all organized by Ryan's company. That was a great experience as well - again, I highly recommend. I'd never done an organized tour like this even though I have travelled extensively and lived in Europe for almost 15 years. We have another 1/2 day food and culture tour in Lisbon and we're really looking forward to it.If you want an extremely high quality, relaxed, personable, attentive tour given by locals, you should absolutely check out Catavino Tours. I worked with Ryan and his staff on setting up a wine and food tour for my winery's (Bodegas Paso Robles) wine club members. They were a delight to work with and put together a spectacular 10-day tour in Portugal and Spain. I had some very specific requests that they were able to accommodate.
